The IRC Europeans incorporating the Commodores Cup is this year being hosted by the RORC and will take place in the central Solent in mid June.
The IRC rating bands have been set from 0.995 to 1.270 incorporating the most active and competitive IRC racing boats. This nicely sets the FAST40+ as the fastest yachts to be racing. The IRC European Championship will be an Open event, meaning that amateurs and professionals will race each other and the presence of professional sailors on board the entries is unrestricted. However, to compete for the Commodores’ Cup within the championship, each three-boat team will be restricted to just one World Sailing Category 3 sailor per boat.
The 2018 IRC European Championship will be multi-disciplinary event incorporate a variety of different races; short windward-leeward races, round the buoys, one long day race around the Isle of Wight (scoring coefficient 1.5) and one 150 nautical mile/30-36 hour offshore race (scoring coefficient 2.0).
The IRC Europeans will be the pinnacle racing event in the Solent this summer.
