Reichel Pugh designed GP42 and FAST 40+ competitor, “42° South”, is available for charter for the 2016 Season, including the Rolex Fastnet Race and other IRC races in and around the Solent. Entry for the Rolex Fastnet Race opens on 9th January 2017 and is expected to be a sell-out. 42° South is available for RORC Offshore qualifying races, as well as the famous Fastnet race, which starts on 6th August 2017. 42° South will be highly competitive – Mike Bartholomew’s FAST40+ Tokoloshe II was a class winner in 2015.
This winter 42° South has a busy schedule of routine maintenance and upgrades underway. A new suite of B&G H5000 has been installed and calibrated. The deck is going to be resprayed to renew the non-skid surface. But most excitingly, 42° South has ordered a new ultra-high modulus Hall Spar rig, that will be significantly lighter and stiffer, bringing with it good performance gains over the boat’s original GP42 rule rig. 42° South is also undergoing modifications to include an offshore mode, including a custom carbon spray hood, that can be clipped on for offshore racing and an alternative deck gear systems.
